empathy hangs on incoming call from gtalk users

Thanks for sending this upstream and also for providing backtrace upstream. Also does this only happen when a windows user calls you?

I'm not sure. I don't have linux on my laptop or virtual machine right now, so I can't say. I've been testing it against the Gmail video chat plugin for Windows.

Might just be limited to windows incoming. When I use the test bot <email address hidden> and I issue the !videome command, empathy doesn't crash. On the other hand, all I see for video on the other side, is black. Whereas when I initiate a video call to the bot, I see my own image echoed back to me from the bot.

Regardless, it doesn't crash the way incoming Windows gtalk video chats do.

One other little bit of information: the above described "black video" from echo bot happens only in Empathy. In Pidgin my image *is* echoed back to me even when receiving an incoming call from the echo bot.

Can confirm the Pidgin crash (haven't tried empathy) when incoming video call is from Mac OSX gmail plugin.

I also got the described "black video" in Empathy. Pidgin works fine...

The fix for the hang is in farsight 0.0.18

Thanks for the bug report please install the latest version of farsight2 from telepathy ppa and the problem will be solved (worked for me and others too) https://launchpad.net/~telepathy/+archive/ppa if that does not solve the problem please let us know.

this bug is fixed in farsight2 0.0.18

For video not broadcasting that would be bug 573845

there are so many commits between 0.0.17 and 0.0.18 that I was not able to find the commit that solved this problem :(

Wouldn't the farsight fix be provided to Lucid users as a an official update?
Because this breaks a major functionality in Empathy.

I am glad to let all of you know that after updating the farsight related packages Google Talk Voice chat works greattt.

Can we get another person to confirm this. I don't want to mark fixed quite yet.

would be nice to figure what change exactly is fixed the issue and to backport this one to lucid, maybe somebody can talk to upstream about that and try to figure what change is required to solve the issue?

I've uploaded the change for this issue and another fix the debian maintainers recommended to use in the update

could somebody test the update?

I installed the previous version and empathy became non responsive when a windows gtalk user called me so had to force quit. with the proposed version there is no problem.

This bug was fixed in the package farsight2 - 0.0.17-2ubuntu2
