Bug Description

As the thinkpad-acpi driver implements a mixer device, it has references to the alsa-core. When a newer ALSA version is installed, the thinkpad driver will not load anymore. Leaving the system without the additional ACPI functionality.

To work around this problem, the only solution is to include the thinkpad-acpi driver recompiled for the newer ALSA stack in the lbm-alsa package.

Accepted linux-backports-modules-2.6.32 into lucid-proposed, the package will build now and be available in a few hours. Please test and give feedback here. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you in advance!

I have reproduced the failure of thinkpad_acpi to load with the version of linux-backports-modules-alsa from linux-backports-modules-2.6.32 in lucid-updates, 2.6.32-23.16, andcan confirm that the thinkpad_acpi module loads with the version of linux-backports-modules-alsa in linux-backports-modules-2.6.32 from lucid-proposed, 2.6.32-24.17. Audio as well as the thinkpad keys continue to work on the T61 that I tested with.
