Bug Description

Binary package hint: devhelp

Hello,

Recently I found out that what DevHelp shows in its contents is not necessarily full available installed documentation. For me it does not find libcairomm reference. Neither does devhelp show it in contents panel, nor I can find it using search feature although I
can manually find and view these papers in /usr/share/doc/....

devhelp : 2.28.1-1
libcairomm-1.0-doc : 1.8.0-1build1

Thank you for helping with making Ubuntu and libcairomm better by reporting this bug. The bug you reported is not an issue with DevHelp, but with libcairomm. In order to show up in DevHelp documentation should use the gtk-doc standard -- website at <http://www.gtk.org/gtk-doc/> -- and libcairomm-1.0-doc isn't doing that. Therefore I'm moving it to the correct package.

I can confirm this bug.

affects: devhelp (Ubuntu) → cairomm (Ubuntu)

importance: Undecided → Low

summary: - devhelp does not show libcairomm documentation
+ libcairomm documentation doesn't use gtk-doc (and therefore doesn't show

This has nothing to do with gtk-doc. DevHelp does not require the use of gtk-doc -- it only needs a DevHelp file. The latest cairomm 1.8.4, which was released in October 2009, should ship with a DevHelp file. Unfortunately the package in Ubuntu is grossly out of date.

This bug was fixed in the package cairomm - 1.9.8-0ubuntu1

---------------
cairomm (1.9.8-0ubuntu1) natty; urgency=low

  * New upstream release. (LP: #701247)
  * debian/control:
   - Bump libcairo2-dev build dep to >= 1.10.0.
   - Drop un-needed build deps on doxygen and graphviz.
  * debian/rules:
   - include /usr/share/cdbs/1/rules/clean-la.mk
   - Don't include simple-patchsys.mk, package is 3.0 (quilt).
   - Don't compress .tag files to make Doxygen happy.
  * debian/libcairomm-1.0-doc.install: Install devhelp. (LP: #515638)
  * debian/libcairomm-1.0-doc.links: Adjust the symlink for the
    new upstream documentation directory.

I managed to get things working with the following workaround:

cd /usr/share/gtk-doc/html
sudo mv gtk gtk2
sudo mv gdk gdk2

devhelp seems to be looking for a file using the scheme <dirname>.devhelp inside <dirname>.

The bug should probably be assigned the the gtk+2.0 source package.
