Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

On this Dell D430, whenever I open the lid, half of the time, gnome-screensaver's unlocking dialog appears, but it ignores all keystrokes and the laptop immediately returns to sleep mode. I then have to close the lid and open it again, to get the unlocking dialog and be able to unlock the display as normal.

This is a regression from Jaunty, where this was working flawlessly.

Actually, sometimes, the keyboard does respond and someone has time to start typing in their password. However, the laptop goes back to sleep immediately, instead of resuming the desktop session.

I also have a D430, and for me this only happens if I detach AC power while the computer is suspended (which is tracked in bug 425411). Is that the case for you as well?

If not, please do

  killall gnome-power-manager
  gnome-power-manager --verbose > /tmp/gpm.log 2>&1

then reproduce the problem (close/open lid), then ^C and attach /tmp/gpm.log. Thanks!

summary: - laptop lid opening doesn't always restore operation
+ suspends again after suspend-on-lid

Thanks for the log. This seems to be the same underlying state bookkeeping problem as in bug 425411.
