Bug Description

Binary package hint: nvidia-173-kernel-source

On a karmic version of Kubuntu , upgrading to the very last version of nvidia-173-kernel-source (173.14.20-0ubuntu3) through nvidia-glx-173 fails because the patch command is missing (that makes the nvidia kernel driver "partially" installed and unusable by Xorg):

Setting up nvidia-173-kernel-source (173.14.20-0ubuntu3) ...
Removing all DKMS Modules
Done.
Adding Module to DKMS build system
driver version= 173.14.20
Doing initial module build
/usr/sbin/dkms: line 35: patch: command not found

Error! Application of patch fall_back_on_mtrr_if_no_pat.patch failed.
Check /var/lib/dkms/nvidia/173.14.20/build/ for more information.
Installing initial module

Error! Could not locate nvidia.ko for module nvidia in the DKMS tree.
You must run a dkms build for kernel 2.6.31-14-generic (i686) first.

nvidia-173-kernel-source depends on "dkms" which, in turn, depends on (actually recommends) "patch".

It's a recommends for dkms because it's not required to use it in all instances. It should be made a depends for any package that uses DKMS and needs it (such as nvidia-graphics-drivers-173)
