Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubufox

I'm not sure what information you need, but I upgraded to 0.7~rc1-0ubuntu1 and restarted Shiretoko and it said it was not compatible with 3.5b4pre.

1. Problem is ubufox isn't compatible (Firefox plugins allow you to set a compatability version)
2. Allow it to be installed in 3.1b3
3. 3.1b3 disables ubufox due to ubufox version number

firefox-3.1:
  Installed: 3.1~b3+build2+nobinonly-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 3.1~b3+build2+nobinonly-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 3.1~b3+build2+nobinonly-0ubuntu1 0
        500 http://archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/universe Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu jaunty (development branch)
Release: 9.04
Codename: jaunty

I'm not saying it won't work, I'm saying that it cannot be enabled without the compatible version being raised to at least 3.1b3.

Here's a blog post with what needs to be done so that the version will be compatible with Shiretoko:

After it runs in the browser, we can test the functionality.

OK:
debdiff still applies
I merged from core-dev branch
it is being updated at this time so should be ready to pull from in an hour or so. I will build it for PPA

Could you please make an amd64 build? I'd be happy to test it.

I'm looking at this time but normally PPA builds all archs. I guess
ubufox only supports i386. I will talk to Alexander about adding support
for 64bit.

After talking with Alexander on IRC, Ubufox supports all archs. It
builds only one arch but that is used with all archs, so 64bit and i386
and other archs, uses the same build.

Sorry for the delay, here's my feedback:
I get the attached Javascript error when I open FF 3.5preb4

When I click the home icon, it takes me to the ubuntu home page like before.

When I try to use the plugin, it says Shiretoko cannot find addons. When I click browse ubuntu extensions, I did manage to install the launchpad extension for FF, but it doesn't seem to work. I think it might be a problem with that extension though.

further thinking reminds me that its completely disabled in jaunty atm; this means that this SRU would not only fix a bug, but enable ubufox everywhere, which seems to be beyond of what we can do in a SRU. Hence, wont fixing the jaunty target.

ok. ... not sure though what would be more critical for this package than rendering firefox completely unusable.
