Abiword crashes on using "Create and modify styles..." from the format menu

When turning compiz off, I can see the dialog for a very short time and the Abiword goes down.

Yea, the same is the case with me too.
Crashed on 2.6.24 kernel (Intrepid Beta) with Abiword 2.6.4 while opening "Create and Modify Styles" on "Format" menu.

From the stacktrace, it appears that the problem is the lack of gtk-engines-ubuntulooks. In Xubuntu Desktop, this works fine as both packages are seeded. In Ubuntu Desktop, abiword crashes because the desired theme engine is missing. abiword should at least Recommend if not Depend upon gtk-engines-ubuntulooks.

I have tracked down the problem and provided upstream with a patch:

They should have freed memory with gtk_tree_path_free(path) instead of g_free(path) in AP_UnixDialog_Styles::_populateCList().

Emmet: shall I attach a debdiff or do you prefer a simple patch for this?

Alberto: Your patch is inline. Why not use the patch system already in place (ie. dpatch)?

Here's a better patch that uses the patch system that is already in place rather than inlining it.
