Bug Description

After doing an apt-get update on a standard intrepid install, xubuntu-desktop cannot be installed as
gtk2-engines-ubuntulooks apparently isn't going to be installed and is a dependency:

vik@eegret:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu intrepid (development branch)
Release: 8.10
vik@eegret:~$ sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop
Reading package lists... Done

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.

Found out that if I "apt-get install gtk2-engines-ubuntulooks" separately first, it works. Not quite sure why it should be so.

Because it needs to remove important packages:
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  human-theme ubuntu-artwork ubuntu-desktop
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  gtk2-engines-ubuntulooks

Either way, use aptitude ;)
$ sudo aptitude install xubuntu-desktop
