Bug Description
I recently had some trouble getting the VirtualBox video driver to work with Intrepid Alpha 6, which gave me a chance to play with the new dialog that appears when Ubuntu starts in low graphics mode. One of my favorite options is the "Edit configuration", which opens the /etc/X11/xorg.conf in Gedit. However, I needed to drop to a terminal window to re-install the guest additions, which was problematic because pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1 only gives you a few seconds to work before Gnome tries to restart and sends you back to the FailsafeX dialog. The only way to get to a terminal (that I knew of) was to clear out the xorg.conf file and Ctrl+Alt+Backspace, which loads the desktop (very slowly) and allows me to open a Terminal window.
If the FailsafeX dialog gave me the option the open a Terminal, that would be a huge help.

Hi deejross,
Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.
