Bug Description

Everytime I try to install the alternate ISO image of intrepid (build August 25th 2008) for Playstation 3 I get following error when installing the base system:
Debootstrap-Warning

Warning: Failure while configuring required packages.

This happens with the Ubuntu and Kubuntu alternate install CD (build August 25th 2008). I can't say at which package, but it happens for several packages starting at circa 50 percent.

This happens with bootloaders kboot and petitboot (August 2008 build).

My Hardware is as follows:

Playstation 3 40 GB version
Model CECHH04

Please extract syslog by going back to the installer main menu and selecting "Save debug logs", and post it here.

You need to be aware that daily builds are not remotely guaranteed to work. It's a useful time-saver to check report.html alongside the image before spending time installing it; if it lists lots of uninstallable packages, don't bother.

Anyway, since we don't have a kernel metapackage for powerpc yet, this won't work for the moment even once we get past whatever this is.

It seems it stops the first time at "initscripts"-package or the following package.

I have attached the debug logs in this ZIP-File. This time it's "intrepid-alternate-powerpc+ps3.iso" (Ubuntu build 27082008).

Sorry I have forgotten to tell that the PS3 firmware version is 2.42 and it's a german (european) Model.

Thanks. This is a combination of bug 251593 (I've commented in more detail there) and this:

Aug 27 06:42:46 in-target: The following packages have unmet dependencies:
Aug 27 06:42:46 in-target: nvidia-common: Depends: nvidia-177-modaliases but it is not installable
Aug 27 06:42:46 in-target: Depends: nvidia-173-modaliases but it is not installable
Aug 27 06:42:46 in-target: Depends: nvidia-96-modaliases but it is not installable
Aug 27 06:42:46 in-target: Depends: nvidia-71-modaliases but it is not installable
Aug 27 06:42:46 in-target: openoffice.org-core: Depends: libhunspell-1.1-0 (>= 1.1.6-1) but it is not installable

I'm sorting out the nvidia stuff with Alberto Milone now. Not sure what the hunspell business is about, but I suspect it's just a lagging build.
