Bug Description
Binary package hint: asterisk-chan-capi
chan-capi provided in hardy gave me the following error message when trying to call out via ISDN:
channel.c: No path to translate from CAPI/ISDN1#
So chan-capi did not provide any audio codec ("(0)") to translate to codec 4 for SIP. I rebuilt the package with version 1.1.1, and this works fine now.
I uploaded the updated packages to my PPA:

Install asterisk-chan-capi package, comment the "unload chan_capi.so", make your phone call (with capi), and you will get a message like:
channel.c: No path to translate from CAPI/ISDN1#
(your phone call does not succeed.)
With the proposed package, phone will ring and you can have your call.

I can confirm this bug. After some inquiry, I found that the package containing chan_capi is not up to date in respect of the supplied asterisk version. It is possible to fix the problem by rebuilding asterisk-chan-capi (See http:// groups. google. com/group/ linux.debian. bugs.dist/ browse_ thread/ thread/ 7ad0e44a2df613f f/05d2725ad1b48 657?#05d2725ad1 b48657 for details)
To rebuild the package:
tuxpoldo /usr/src # apt-get update chan-capi_ 1.0.2-1_ amd64.deb
...
tuxpoldo /usr/src # apt-get build-dep asterisk-chan-capi
...
tuxpoldo /usr/src # apt-get source --build asterisk-chan-capi
...
tuxpoldo /usr/src # dpkg -i asterisk-
Since apt-get upgrade would overwrite your newly built and installed chan_capi, you have to place the debian package on hold until the bug will be fixed. You can achieve this with:
tuxpoldo /usr/src # wajig hold asterisk-chan-capi
