Binary package hint: sun-java6-jre
The manpage for javac is available.
nils@compaq:~$ man java
No manual entry for java
See 'man 7 undocumented' for help when manual pages are not available.
nils@compaq:~$ java -version
java version "1.6.0"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0-b08)
OpenJDK Server VM (build 1.6.0-b08, mixed mode)
nils@compaq:~$ javac -version
javac 1.6.0_05

According to these lines from your report, you have openjdk-6 installed.
nils@compaq:~$ java -version
java version "1.6.0"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0-b08)
OpenJDK Server VM (build 1.6.0-b08, mixed mode)
So is the problem really with sun-java6-jre? What does 'dpkg -l sun-java6-jre' show?
