Bug Description

Open Synaptic, search for "Boinc" - several packages come up.

I wanted to test the package "boinc-amd-opencl" but i get an red exclamation mark!
Looking into the depencencies i saw this (pic attached):

needs: boinc
needs: fglrx-driver
needs: amd-libopencl1
in conflict with: boinc-amd-opencl

.

Xubuntu 12.04.2

Works for me with version 7.0.65~dfsg-2~precise4.

If you open up the properties, dependencies the text itself is not corrected.
In conflict with: boinc-amd-opencl

But this is a minor flaw.

Thanks to all for the fast response and gratulations for the second stable version 7!

I don't understand where the problem could be located...
Steffen do you have any clue?

The problem is not that boinc-amd-opencl is in conflict with it self, this is the case in almost every package. The problem is, that amd-libopencl1 is not available in the ubuntu repository, only in debian, but listed as a dependency. You can remove this dependency, because fglrx-driver contains all amd/ati drivers together, that are split into multiple packages in debian.

So are you suggesting to introduce a delta in ubuntu?
Just by removing a "suggest" package?

I'm honestly so much contrary to this, because it will introduce a big overhead in mantaing boinc, and I want to use my time just fixing bugs rather than checking deltas between distros.

Do you know some bad behavior or some good points for introducing this delta?
I mean, just a cosmetic bug in properties of package manager could be acceptable, or maybe fixing this problem in the package manager would be nicer.

As I see it the version in your ppa has completely resolved this issue. I don't think that there has to be done more than you already did, only publish in normal ubuntu repository ;)

Ok I liked your message :)
This and many other fix (something about icons and other misc stuff) will be shipped in debian unstable as 7.0.65+dfsg-2
Since there is no delta anymore between debian and ubuntu, now ubuntu saucy will automatically sync the new version from unstable, maybe I'll ask for a backport to quantal and raring, or a SRU, this isn't time to think about this.

I don't think this bug is a showstopper, since it never worked this package since 12.04 IIRC, so for the moment I prefer to keep fixing bugs and upload when I'm sure no regressions have been introduced.

Bests
