Please note this is an experimental package, and is perfectly capable of breaking your boot configuration if either a) it goes wrong, or b) you misuse it! However, the hope is that it should be easily recoverable as the tool takes pains to create backups whenever necessary, and the backups are accessible from an unbooted system (i.e. simple zips on the boot partition).
Adding this PPA to your system
You can update your system with unsupported packages from this untrusted PPA by adding ppa:waveform/pibootctl to your system's Software Sources. (Read about installing)
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:waveform/pibootctl
sudo apt update
