Update (8 Apr 2023): FFmpeg git builds here are now with nv-codec-headers 12.0.16.0 (latest version) which requires nVidia >= 520.56.06 drivers!

Update (23 Mar 2023): FFmpeg git builds here are now with iLBC (Internet Low Bandwidth Codec) and VapourSynth support. Now for "subscribers only"!

Update (25 Feb 2023): New 6.0+git20230223 version, also fixes installation issue due libchromaprint1 dependency (chromaprint needed rebuild with new libavcodec60, required to resolve dependency loop with libswresample4).

Update (24 Jan 2023): FFmpeg git builds now have AMD AMF (Advanced Media Framework) support, using latest headers from AMF 1.4.29 (released today).

Update (2 Jan 2023): Latest FFmpeg git builds are now with libvpl (Intel Gen12+) instead of libmfx (Intel Gen8+), the two are mutually exclusive.

Update (27 Jul 2022): New FFmpeg 5.1 builds have JPEG-XL & LCMS2 support!

Update (6 Apr 2022): FFmpeg 5.0 builds now have Netflix VMAF support, with thanks to Frank B. (equal #1 patron of these PPAs) for suggesting/testing!

*** Install ***

FFmpeg builds here depend on the public FFmpeg PPA (ppa:savoury1/ffmpeg4), and the new private FFmpeg PPA (ppa:savoury1/ffmpeg) for building and also installation. In addition to gaining subscriber access to the private PPA (any who have donated can contact me for that) do these steps to install:

  sudo add-apt-repository ppa:savoury1/ffmpeg4
  sudo add-apt-repository ppa:savoury1/ffmpeg-git
  sudo apt-get update
  sudo apt-get upgrade && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
  sudo apt-get install ffmpeg
