For precise, raring, saucy, trusty & xenial a packaged build of fdkaac which is a frontend encoder for fdk-aac
Software written by nu774 and source available at https://github.com/nu774/fdkaac
Requires libfdk-aac0 to be installed which is in saucy repos & available here for raring & precise, trusty & xenial use libfdk-aac1, provided here
Read fdkaacc --help & or man fdkaac for info, options
Supported in rubyripper 0.7 (fraunhofer) & in abcde
For abcde in ~/.abcde.conf set -
AACENCODERSYNTAX=fdkaac
FDKAAC=fdkaac
For FDKAACENCOPTS= use any available options per man fdkaac
