Nemo for Ubuntu
PPA description
Designed with unity in mind, probably would work ok with gnome-shell though I don't use gnome-shell so no support..
Make sure to upgrade libgnome-desktop-3-12 to ppa's version if already installed..
To make the default file manager
xdg-mime default nemo.desktop inode/directory application/x-gnome-saved-search
To handle the desktop just disable nautilus doing so & reboot or log out
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons false
An improved compiz available on request if getting cursor run on in unity from icon quicklists
The mediainfo-tab plugih is accessed thru r. click > properties
For whatever reason apt and or synaptic doesn't handle Label change of ppa well. If having issue just open Software & Updates > Other Software.
Uncheck the ppa, click close and refresh sources.
Then again open Software & Updates > Other Software, enable the ppa, click close and refresh sources, all should be well.
If still an issue after above run sudo apt update, you'll be prompted for accept change.
