Ubuntu Lucid kernel plus the EXPERIMENTAL "i915 brightness control" patch and the upstream "Unconditionally set SCI_EN" patch.
This kernel fixes:
- non-functional brightness control keys for some laptops (reference LP: #568611; note this patch requires an Intel graphics processor (i915-based) to operate)

In order to avoid the often-dysfunctional native acpi brightness control
methods, a new acpi_brightness
The i915 driver uses the new hook to take over brightness control.
Boot with i915.brightness=0 to disable.
