Alcatel X060S PPA (Jaunty Jackalope) - NO LONGER MAINTAINED
PPA description
Kernel and network-manager packages to support the Alcatel X060S broadband modem (possibly X200, too) nearly out of the box.
Quick steps to get the X060S / X200 working on Jaunty:
1. Get http://ftp.es.debian.org/debian/pool/main/u/usb-modeswitch/. Pick your architecture, download and install.
2. Add these two lines to your 3rd party software sources (System -> Administration -> Software sources):
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/jmartinj/javi/ubuntu jaunty main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/jmartinj/javi/ubuntu jaunty main
3. Do a software upgrade (System -> Administration -> Update manager). Ignore the warnings about missing signatures or import the PPA key if you want to get rid of them: 'sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com C6813F8D'
4. A new kernel and network manager should be in place now. Reboot, plug the modem, left-click on the network-manager icon, and there you go.
