Hello. My name is Don Posey, and I currently reside in beautiful Beltsville, Maryland-home of the.....well, Beltsville type person.
I'm not a savvy command line user, but have managed to stumble my way through several distro's, installs, and the typical new user mistakes. Yes.....I admit I loaded the "server edition" in an assumed attempt to minimize networking issues. Oh, the horror....startX? Not gonna happen when x isn't to be found, now, is it? Fixing it was still easier than a fresh install of x-pee.....
Anyway, I recently (2/15/09-a day etched in my memory) took the plunge, and purged the evil from my machine. No more bulky Anti Virus programs that bug the hell out of you to accept, decline, quarantine, or "BUY OUR CRAP". No more failed updates, Licensing Keys, and updating the updates to the updated updates.
Brief Bio. Army brat. Served as a young man for 5 years in the same German Town I grew up in (Ansbach). Kicked a beastly drug habit along the way. Married, raised 3 kids properly(I think...sometimes I wonder as all parents do). Don't care too much for "walks in the park, romantic moonlight, evenings dancing", etc. I'm certifiably *nuts* and if you don't believe me, I've all the Time Squad and Squidbillies episodes, and sordid pics to prove it (no porn-that's so blase).
Besides, on that issue, my wife of 25 years is my greatest endorser.
I love the GNU concept, and support it wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, my coding skills consist of "where in the hell did the C prompt go?", so I won't be developing anything any time soon. BUT (the caveat)...I'm a die hard fan/advocate of Linux, the Gnu license, and the open source concept.
Enough about me. There are more important issues than what I do for a hobby, or why I wear knee socks on Wednesdays.
Keep developing and I'll keep supporting. My goal is to have the world open sourced if I have to beat it into their heads with the WindowsME SDK on floppy disk....
