Xterminator is a workaround designed to mitigate the problems caused in LTSP situations when buggy GUI login processes persist after the parent login session has terminated. Additionally, programs such as tuxpaint and firefox are notorious for chewing up as many CPU cycles as possible after a thin client has lost power. Xterminator addresses these problems by executing when a user logs in and killing any OTHER running processes that user owns.
