A cursory parse of Alan's missing glyphs file shows that the whole alphabets are missing (Arabic, Armenian, Georgian to name the ones I could spot). The first one in particular would mean that if the Ubuntu font was made the default font, anybody who speaks Arabic, Farsi or Urdu would be out of luck. So maybe it would be less controversial to include the font in 10.10 so that it gets out to as many users as possible but only make it the default in 11.04?
