I very much agree. It's one of the first things you do on a computer: look on the network and see what's connected.
I remember thinking that anyone looking at ubuntu for the first time and trying this out would be very very disappointed that this does not work out-of-the-box. And I'm also very sure that no one except a linux nerd like myself, would get it to work.
