I have been bothered by this problem repeatedly so I finally took the following steps:

ln -s /dev/null syslog

ln -s /dev/null kern.log

That should take care of most of the problem. Why is it taking so long to fix this and why did it happen in the first place?

ARRRGGGGG!!
