I have the same problem. I'm using ubuntu 9.10 on a fujitsu N5010 laptop with a P4 at 3.2 Ghz. Normal temperature swings generate thousands of messages in /var/log/messages about the CPU temperature....like so

The processes that seem to be consuming all the cpu resources are rsyslogd and dd. They are pegged at near 100% of cpu load and effectively seize the computer as I am not able to do anything else with it. If you ask me this is pretty severe.
