Seeing the same problem on my desktop.

Another side effect is 'logcheck' never being able to catch up with the logs so multiple logcheck processes accumulate over time and the system becomes overloaded with logcheck processes taking all CPUs at close to 100% utilization.

Seems like pretty high severity to me.
