I have the same problem, but even after I removed the password from the keys, it keeps failing to connect. It seems to fail the MS-CHAP authentication.
As I can understand from the last posts, there is no fix to be expected, because no one knows how to release it or wants to do it. I am more and more extremely disappointed by Ubuntu for this practice happening for juste EVERY bug. Using PPAs complicates things very much.
