Perhaps this doesn't need to be here, but for completeness, I figured I should include one final update, the /dev/sd* designations of my hard drives began to be assigned inconsistently from one boot to the next, causing similar but not identical mount errors. This was solved by converting my /etc/fstab to use UUIDs instead of indicating the /dev/sd* notation.
