Please attach *all* the output from 'amixer' (without quotes) in a Terminal.

I installed linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic-generic via synaptic and
rebooted. I'll be honest... I'm not sure what this does so after reboot
I tried going back into alsamixer and changed the settings on internal
mic .. unmuted, boost all the way up.. to see if it fixed it... but
still nothing.
