This bug was fixed in the package pm-utils - 1.2.2.4-0ubuntu5

pm-utils (1.2.2.4-0ubuntu5) jaunty-proposed; urgency=low

  * debian/000record: add for the kernel to prevent hibernates if it has
    been upgraded. Else we will fail during resume and data may be lost.
