I just uploaded a test kernel at https://launchpad.net/~stefan-bader-canonical/+archive (this still will take some time to complete the compile). The version will be 2.6.27-11.23smb2. I tried there to get something together which hopefully behaves like the -10 kernels by having acpi and vendor interface active. Please try this when build and report back
1. what works or not
2. if it doesn't work, could you please post 2 files,
- the output of "dmesg"
- the output of "grep -r . /proc/acpi/video"
Note: having "options video acpi_backlight=..." in /etc/modprobe.d/options will force either vendor or video, so to get both interfaces it should be removed.
