I think the problem will be solved at the root now and soon no workarounds will be necessary anymore (afaik).

The Kernel Team seems to be dealing with issues regarding suspend/resume now.
But personally i find it a little frustrating, that we already had worked out a solution (inclusive .debdiff provided by Chow Loong Jin - hyperair) and it did not find its way into ubuntu...
Let's hope it gets fixed this time :-)
(I will run the tests on my laptop in the next days)
