On the command line, you see the following when entering a wrong password:
$ gksu --description /usr/share/applications/synaptic.desktop /usr/sbin/synaptic GNOME_SUDO_PASSSorry, try again. sudo: 3 incorrect password attempts
This is with current 10.04 and pretty annoying.
