Thank you for your bug report. Is the 5 vs 12 a driver difference? Which driver are you using?
On the test lenovo test laptop Marco is using with synaptic there are an UI displayed which updates each time a fingerprint swipe is validated, it's not the case for you? Could you maybe do a screencast of the full enrolling process you are experiencing?
