I have just tried it here, under gnome-app-install 0.5.24-0ubuntu1.1 (currently under jaunty-proposed), and I cannot repeat this issue.

Can some of you running with jaunty-proposed please install this version and try again?

Thanks.

I tried to reproduce the crash as detailed. No crash occurred at my PC.

My Ubuntu9.04 has been around awhile, however. I did not just install it from the live CD nor live DVD. Perhaps my deb packages might therefore be more consistent than those at the PC where the crash occurred?

I saw at the above link that there the version I am using (from jaunty-proposed) appears to have fixed the problem with gnome-app-install.

This occurs each time you type some app name that doesn't exist.
Then you clean it up and hit any category.
The first or secont time you do that, the list comes empty.
Sometimes you get a crash.
I use jaunty AMD64 on a Sony Vaio SN11-Z

I am marking this bug fix released. The fix for bug 354563 also fixed the issue here.

@tangchaolei: I am sorry, but I am disregardiing your comment. If you do not agree this bug was fixed, please give details on what happens, including the version of the package. A simple "not at all" really does not help any.
