Lionel, thanks so much for the update and for pushing for this to be fixed. I applied the git.xfce.org patch you mention and built my first debs, installed them (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/268607/libexo-0.3-0_0.3.106-1ubuntu3_amd64.deb and http://dl.dropbox.com/u/268607/exo-utils_0.3.106-1ubuntu3_amd64.deb) and now Thunar works again! Finally! No problems so far...

I am also very grateful for your warning, for unlike Antonio I would not have realized the extent of changes that PPA would have brought in. Now, if only clicking on an item from another 'Desktop' in the xfce4 panel task list would convince compiz to switch to that 'Desktop'... (Desktop vs. Workspace issue I suppose, the switcher and xfdesktop work correctly though)
