FYI: the file manager in Lubuntu (pcmanfm 0.9.4) no longer exhibits the detailed view select bug. It's serving as a replacement for Thunar for me at the moment. Having to hit ctrl-1 / ctril-2 just to overcome a bug is too much got me.
