Win! I can report that with the 1.3.9-2ubuntu3 packages the Ubuntu Test Page gets printed correctly. All margins are correct and all border lines are printed. So it looks like on this front everything is good. Just remain the strange margin settings in the PPD itself, but at least I know how to change them now manually until a fix is released for that part.
