No runaway CPU, but I just had ~60 console-kit-daemons leaking after a day's worth of frequent Capistrano deploys (which launch multiple SSH sessions) on a brand-new EC2 instance running Ubuntu 12.10. Probably not your issue, Whit, but the leakiness is still concerning.
