... is your desktop being managed by nautilus or some other application (what)? I assume nautilus, but all I have for a desktop is a single gnome panel with only the clock applet in it, awn, and (since after the initial bug report) gnome-do. The desktop management was left to the Ubuntu/gnome defaults - I haven't replaced it explicitly.
