Apologies for the awful delay with updating on this... I didn't realise this was still blocked on me.

The Lucid Proposed package does fix this issue, and has been in production here for quite a while.

Regarding confirmation with Maverick, this is probably best determined with grepping the source code... which is now on my soon to-do list.
