I am seeing the same on my laptop as well. Here are the details:

Will the fix make it into the upcoming release (karmic)? Or should I wait for the next iteration? In the meanwhile, is there somewhere in the startup scripts I can add the alsa+modprobe commands to automatically enable audio when the laptop starts?
