No. Nor do I have any other softmodem packages such as hsfmodem, which sometimes include Alsa drivers.
A little experimenting has shown that I can get the driver to reload just by logging out and in again. If I do that, I get the "drums" just prior to login, but not the post-login tune. So far, it seems like the driver stays loaded until I try to change settings with the Sound preferences applet.
