Hardware device disappearing from Sound Preferences https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/465942
You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to alsa-
driver in ubuntu.
Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu: New
Bug description:
Tried to configure audio using "Sound Preferences". The driver initially showed in the window but then it disappeared. Rebooting is needed to have it reappear. But it disappears again as soon as I try to configure it.
I ran the following command *after* the driver had disappeared from the Sound Prefs window. Evidently, Alsa still knows it's there.

Using the 9.10 release - fresh install, no upgrade. Have had no problems with earlier releases (did not use 8.10 or 9.04).
