Maxim:
open a window, press alt+f7 to move it (if you're running metacity), then move the window with the cursor keys to the second screen. press enter to release the pointer - does the pointer work now? (same way to restore it, btw, just move the window back)
If not, this is the same problem (although I thought it'd been fixed). If it works, then what you are seeing is a different problem, please open a new bugreport for that.
