Bug 1085742 has a solution in Debian that was included in the sync of znc 1.0-2, which is in proposed awaiting powerpc builds.
As a result, this backport request is being modified to account for znc 1.0-2 which I would like backported to Precise. I will be doing tests within the next few days for building and running. Note the quantal backport request is still in processing for this as well (Bug 1085731)
