This is related to bug #377935. mpt is seeing the remove icon because he is subscribed to a duplicate. As with bug #377935, we're not handling the subscribe/unsubscribe mechanics correctly when you are subscribed via a duplicate. We should not offer a remove icon when subscribed via a duplicate.
