The current design seriously misrepresents the status of open source
projects no hosted on Launchpad. I didn't come up with it.

I know the Launchpad vision is of everyone coming together on it to
exchange data, but that doesn't excuse the current design. I don't have
the time to come up with a redesign for you, but that doesn't make it any
less of a bug.
