Written for "INX Is Not X" by Peter Garrett on 2008-08-18

The "INX Is Not X" team is pleased to announce availability of the
second Release Candidate ( inx-rc2) from

http://inx.maincontent.net

or its European mirror site at

http://inx.boinc.ch

INX is a Live CD based on Ubuntu 8.04.1, which aims to be a complete
'non-graphical' GNU/Linux environment. It can be used to learn the
command line, as a rescue disc, or as a general purpose portable
command line and virtual console operating system...

ISO Downloads (187 MB iso) are available from

http://inx.maincontent.net/download.html

There are also compressed Virtual Box and Qemu images:

Qemu:

The focus of INX is to act as a fun way to use GNU/Linux to explore the
power of the command line. It has built-in interactive tutorials, and
simple application selection from colourful menus.

You can get an idea of how it looks and works from the "slideshow"
beginning at

or find some 'screencast' videos at

The live CD can be booted in RAM for better speed and functionality.

The full list of packages used in INX is at

"INX Is Not X" - so it contains no X applications at all.

These are the additional Ubuntu 8.04 packages used by INX
(additional to ubuntu-minimal and ubuntu-standard)
All packages are the Ubuntu packages, with versions as for Ubuntu 8.04.1
