Introduction

Gnash is a GNU Flash movie player. Till now it has only been possible to play flash movies with proprietary software. While there are a few other free flash players, none supports anything higher than SWF v4 at best. Gnash is based on GameSWF, and supports many SWF v7 features.

The main developers web site for Gnash is located on the Free Software Foundation's Savannah project support server at this link. That is where bugs can be filed, or view the sources in CVS.

        Gnash can run standalone to play flash movies.

        Gnash can also run as a plugin from within Mozilla >=1.7.13, klash and Firefox.
